“So long as you write what you wish to write, that is all that matters; and whether it matters for ages or only for hours, nobody can say.” Virginia Woolf, A Room of One’s Own

Writing in the course blog

Students are encouraged to add articles to the course blog whenever they need an outlet for writing. For the purpose of the Blog Contributions assignment, each student should contribute at least three blog entries (200 – 400 words) throughout the semester. Students can sign-up for the weeks they’d like to contribute to the blog using this spreadsheet.

It is recommended that students focus their blogs in response to pieces of media that they have read, watched, or listened to in the past weeks. This could include news articles, research papers, documentaries, podcasts, YouTube videos, movies, books, video games, or any other piece of media. That being said, if a student would like to use the blog for a personal reflection, creative piece, or general experimentation, that is also encouraged.

Students can make use of images and external links to provide added context to their articles. But please make sure to provide a citation for any copyrighted image or diagram.

Don’t worry: you don’t have to use images that match the blog’s colour scheme.
